Grove City Art Art & Theatre Camp is back for the third year! We have even more fun planned for this year. Hope you can join us. Grove City Art and Theatre camp welcomes all children, including those with physical or developmental disabilities.* A limited number of need-based scholarships are available, so that young artists will be able to attend camp regardless of their family’s financial situation. 


 

Camp Class Offerings

 ** NEW!! Parents are invited to draw with award-winning artist, Sarah Hempel Irani! Register either as a parent-child team, or take drawing lessons while your child is enrolled in another Art and Theatre Camp class. Come all week, or drop in for one or two sessions. $100 for the week/ $3o per day as a drop in. Register today! 2014 Art and Theatre Camp Adult Registration

Preschool Art Adventures: A fun blend of art, collage, movement, music, and games. This class is for preschoolers (ages 3 and 4) and kids who have completed kindergarten. Teacher: Elizabeth Messer.

 Dance:  We are excited to once again offer a class in dance for kids entering kindergarten through 5th grade. The class will prepare a dance routine for the final reception and show. Instructor: Ashley Hazy.

 Music Adventures: Kids entering 1st through 6th grade are invited to join area mime and theatre teacher, Angie Settlemire on a journey around the world and through time with music. Explore rhythm and vocals, meoldy and song with stories and games. The Grove City Art and Theatre Camp is thrilled to have a music class this year!

 Second Exploration of Fun Animals and Funny Creatures: This class for kids entering 1st through 6th grade will create cartoon style animals and create their own imaginary creatures.  They will learn to draw using shapes in addition to learning: printmaking, glue resist/ pastel, watercolors, art with sharpies, oil pastel, and tie-dyeing our art camp shirts! Instructor: Vicki Stanton

 Kids Theatre: Children entering 1st through 6th grade will spend an action-packed week playing theatre games and preparing a play for performance with New York-based actress, Abbie Getty.

 Teen Theatre: Teens entering 7th through 12th grade will be going deeper into the craft of theatre by playing theatre games, doing theatre exercises and preparing a series of one-act plays for performance with local stage and film actress, Kate Wade.

 Drawing with Charcoals with award-winning artist, Sarah Hempel Irani: This class for kids entering 6th through 12th grade will draw still-lifes, the human form, and other figures in charcoal.

 The Art of Architecture: Construction and Destruction with Creative Materials: This class for kids and teens entering 6th through 12th grade will study the principles of architecture and design from the ancient Greeks to modern skyscrapers. Teens will make buildings out of common materials and then text them against windstorms, tsunamis, and earthquakes to see how strong they are! Laura Coulter is teaching this course.

 Face Castings: Tribute to George Segal with Heather Yesko. This class for kids entering 6th through 9th grade will study how to sculpt the face by creating castings of their own faces!

 Fashion Upcycling: This class for kids and teens entering 4th through 12th grade will create new designs and fashions from thrift store finds. The class will take a field trip to area thrift stores, plan their designs, cut and learn hemming, zippers, buttons and buttonholes,  and add trim. The students will present their work at a fashion show at the closing reception. With Marianne DiQuattro!

 *Each of our teachers has completed full Pennsylvania criminal and child abuse clearance and an FBI background check. They are experienced, friendly, and knowledgeable individuals excited to share their art with area children.


Registration Begins Today!

 Each session costs $100 plus materials, if applicable, depending on the class. A limited number of need-based scholarships are available. We are asking generous members of our community to sponsor a child for camp this year.

Please submit registration forms and payment at the Grove City Arts Council Office (Olde Town Suite) or mail forms and payment to Grove City Arts Council Office at 118 South Center Street,  Grove City, PA 16127. The student’s spot is only reserved upon receipt of payment. Please send any questions to our director, Marianne DiQuattro at grovecityartcamp@gmail.com.

Can you sponsor a child’s tuition?

In the past two years we have been able to provide several full scholarships and some partial scholarships, thanks to the donations of our generous community. To make a donation, please write “camp scholarship” in the memo line of your check, or on the envelope containing the donation. Donations can be dropped off at b’gifted on S. Broad Street, or mailed to the Grove City Arts Council Office, 118 South Center Street,  Grove City, PA 16127. A donation of $100 pays a child’s tuition for a full week of camp.
