Wonderful Watercolor – FULL

Ages: 7-18

 Students will learn many different watercolor techniques.  Each day, they will learn about a different watercolor artist and have an assignment to complete that will challenge them creatively and reinforce their knowledge of the subjects studied that day.  By the end of the week, students will have created one final work that demonstrates all the skills they have learned throughout the week.

Students will enjoy a hands-on introduction to the world of ceramic arts.  We will look at how clay is processed by harvesting local clay and processing it like the Native American tribes.  Then we will learn the basics of hand building by making bowls, cups, and sculptures using coil, pinch, and slab techniques. We will also explore press molding techniques.  We will even learn different glazing and decoration techniques.  The course will conclude with a look at different     types of kiln designs and firing methods.

In Creative Writing, each student will develop his or her own creative voice while exploring a variety of creative forms including prose, poetry, drama, and songwriting.  Over the course of the week, students will learn about various creative writing formats, workshop with the instructor and peers to refine their work, and ultimately publish/perform a completed work or collection of original writing.

Got Broadway? In this exciting intensive, students will learn the secrets to singing with a powerful stage voice while acting and moving! They will explore different styles of singing within the musical theatre genre – including safe belting technique.   Students will also observe the application of such techniques in video examples of famous performances.  The week culminates at the Friday night showcase, where students will perform a show-stopping medley of songs from different Broadway hits, such as Into The Woods, Newsies, & more!

If you’ve ever dreamed of packing a bag, hopping a plane, train or automobile and traveling to some of the coolest places on the globe— now’s your chance! Students ages 6-9 years old are invited to join us for a week of adventure & exploration through creative dramatic games, activities, crafts and improvisation. Then, we’ll create a Newscast Theatre Piece, where we’ll relay the details of our Round-the-World adventure to families at the Friday night showcase!

 Let’s go to the Beach! We’ll spend the week exploring different mediums like sand, water, and sun in a creative art setting. Projects include making a wave bottle, sand art, sea-shell sculptures, water-color ocean creatures and more!  Final product display will include a large ocean mural.

In this introduction to the arts, preschoolers will use their five senses to explore ways of expressing themselves through drama, art projects, nature study, games, stories, music, and large movement activities.

Yarn Arts: Knit and Crochet 101  CANCELLED

In this beginner’s class you will learn to knit/crochet using only your hands (no needles).  Once you have mastered this easy step, you may choose to move on to needles and hooks or not.  You will have the opportunity to choose up to three projects to complete, such as scarves, infinite cowls,  lunch sac, pillow cover, pocket mascot,  a wash cloth… or be creative with an original idea!

Students will explore the endless possibilities of creative movement through improvisational exercises, games, and mime technique.   They will learn how to clearly communicate emotions, environments, and stories to an audience without using words.   All ability levels welcome.  This class is great for actors who want to build a stronger foundation for character development, as well as students who want to channel their imagination and energy into a powerful and moving art form.   Throughout the week, students will create and learn an unforgettable performance for the Friday night showcase.  Every one should wear modest, form fitting & flexible clothing (long t-shirt with leggings, exercise pants, knee length shorts, etc.).  


Troll-ing Around The Dance Floor   CANCELLED

Students will explore the basics of both ballet and jazz. The class will be based around the movie Trolls. This motion picture teaches the audience about happiness, which is something that dance brings to everybody.  Throughout the week, students will also enjoy various  Trolls-themed activities including drawing trolls and creating their own “hug time” wristbands and Poppy headbands. They will also watch the movie.  At the Friday night showcase, the children will wear their creations and perform both a ballet and jazz dance using songs from the Trolls soundtrack.

Students will use their imaginations to design and build small and giant puppets out of recycled materials.  They will show  off their amazing creations with a puppet parade at the  Friday night performance!

Students will be introduced to the ancient art of mosaics through the use of pre-cut mosaic tiles, stained glass, beads, stones, and found objects.  They will design patterns, choose colors, shapes and objects  in creating a mosaic birdbath, sun catcher, and wall hanging.
