John Dropp has a B. A. in Theatre Deign and Technology from Slippery Rock University and is a classically trained Actor and Director. He has worked as an instructor for an art summer camp for children with special needs. Ran a Theatre summer camp for Volunteers of America. Had an internship at Playhouse Merced in Merced CA for one year were he taught Acting and Directing. Worked with other community Shakespeare Co. in the area doing props and Scenic Painting. He attended The Western Stage in Salinas CA, were he had an intensely focused Journeymen position as a Scenic Painter. Was the Scenic Painter for the Humana Festival in Louisville KY. At this time he traveled the country as a freelance artist for John Dropp Deigns working theatres, Shakespeare in the park, and a national tour with Troup America. He has directed numerous plays and world premieres. Helped start and co-create First Fridays and Art walks in Salinas CA, and Louisville KY. John is a self-taught Chinese brush painter and watercolorist; infusing the very strict style of eastern painting with the free form/ spontaneity of western watercolors to make a style that’s all its own. He assists with Art Therapy focusing on Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Has recently moved back to western PA. to start an artist sanctuary residence in Boyer’s PA.
